Kay O'Connell's

Kay O'Connell fish stall in the market is an impressive sight on any day. The fish come's from around the world and end's up on the stall fresh and ready to be cooked.
The stall is very large and has been on many television ads as well as receiving plenty of awards through the years for the quality of their produce. They have been awarded the Seafood Circle award which they proudly display on the counter.

Kay O Connell'sFirst started by Kay O'Connell in 1962 and now run by her two sons, the stall has made a name for itself not just locally but around Ireland as well, Rick Stein has said that its a must shop when in the market.
Supplying alot of restaurants in Cork and beyond, as well as the local, its not unusual to see prominent chefs shopping here for their produce to be cooked that evening. Most of the fish sold on the stall comes from the auctions at Union Hall or from the nearby ports of Castletownbere and Ballycotton or from as far as Killybegs.

At any given time you never know who may be standing beside you buying fish that may have been caught locally or freighted in from abroad. The counter is like an artists canvas and early in the morning its filled in such a way that you will notice it from afar.
All the fish can either be sold on the bone or filleted, the choice is yours. The staff are professional and language is not an issue at this stall so no matter where your from and if your in cork then you know where to buy fresh fish. Many good chefs have shopped here and its any wonder that they do so well.
