Ballycotton Seafood

The story of Ballycotton Seafood is as good as it gets. Starting of first as a small traditional smoke house in Garryvoe, Midleton, Co. Cork. it soon went on to bigger things. They had their own fishing vessels supplying them with fresh fish and prawns, which in turn they used to supply many restaurants in the South-East region.

As they started to expand by opening the retail shop in Main st., Midleton they also started to supply many commerical seafood outlets in the South of Ireland and Bandon Fish was but one of them, supplying Jack and Marian for many years where they in turn sold the fresh fish to the locals in the English Market.

After the sad parting of Marian Burke in 2007, Jack decided to put away his filleting knife and Ballycotton Seafood took over the stall in the market, this was a new quest for them and they used their many years of experience both from the factory and shop in Midleton to continue what Jack & Marian had done for many years, supply good quality fresh fish to the shoppers in the market, whether you be a local restaurant or buyer for the table you get the same top quality service and fresh fish.

Supplying alot of restaurants in Cork and beyond, as well as the local, its not unusual to see prominent chefs shopping here for their produce to be cooked that evening. Most of the fish sold on the stall comes either from their boats or from the auctions at Union Hall or the nearby ports of Castletownbere and Ballycotton. The fresh fish is brought up each morning from the factory in Garryvoe and displayed on the counter for all to buy.

If you are not sure what to buy then ask one of the staff for a recommendation and if you are lucky you may get a tried & tested recipe to go along with it.
All the fish can either be sold on the bone or filleted, the choice is yours. The staff are professional and language is not an issue at this stall so no matter where your from and if your in cork then you know where to buy fresh fish.
